In March of 2009, K.R.Brobst Builder LLC, had the opportunity to participate in a Builder's Blitz event for Habitiat for Humanity. We spent a day helping to frame one of several homes being built for families in our community. It was great to see so many volunteers helping throughout that day. We were supplied with water and plenty of food to keep us going. We worked along side other contractors towards a common goal. To provide good homes to those in need.

The opportunity to help others is something that we should all take advantage of when we have the chance. Habitat for Humanity is a noble organization and we are honored to have been a small part of it.

An important concern of K.R. Brobst Builder LLC, is to provide a quality product at an affordable price. That may seem like a generic statement, but you need to know what your project is being built out of. The grade of materials used in your project can drastically affect the lifetime of your project. A great example of where many cut corners is in the bathroom. We use only mold and mildew resistant drywall in wet areas; bathrooms, laundry etc. Never allow a contractor to use drywall in your shower. Use only tile backer-board. Saving money by using the cheapest of materials may seem appealing now, but, later, expensive repairs will change your mind very quickly. Using the appropriate materials now, will save you money in the long run.

A dishonest contractor is someone who does not follow the rules. A dishonest homeowner is also someone who does not follow the rules. Why hire a state licensed contractor to contract your project? Because it is the law. It may seem like a good way to save money by hiring an unlicensed "contractor" to handle your project and pull the permits yourself, but there are some problems with that plan. Any contract that you sign with an unlicensed "contractor" is null and void in the state of Florida. This means that if anything goes wrong, you have no legal recourse. Any warranties that the unlicensed "contractor" makes are null and void. He can literally take your money and run and you have no way to enforce the contract. If you decide to sell your property, any work done illegally can create significant paper work problems for the sale. Finally, if you are caught using an unlicensed "contractor" you will be heavily fined by the County and your unlicensed "contractor" will be arrested.

Please feel free to check our credentials. Being state-licensed means that we have completed all of the necessary steps to qualify as a contracting company. Experience, knowledge, and continual learning are all part of being a contractor, especially in hurricane country where it is vitally important to implement all building code practices and precautions to ensure a strong, long-lasting, safe structure.
